I Can! As somebody who hypnotizes people based on words, I can tell you that the words that you constantly reiterate to yourself are what ultimately becomes your reality. Words such as “I can’t” only stop you in your tracks. So for example, if an athlete starts thinking that I can’t do it, sure enough, that’s exactly what ends up happening. Something as small as a mindset can make a huge difference in your life
Here are some useful ideas that will help you go from I can’t to I can.
If you are not happy with something that you did in the past, get over it. Now is now and it has nothing to do with the past. People turn things around all the time.
Everybody has strengths and weaknesses. Just because you aren’t good at one thing doesn’t mean that you’re not good at anything. It’s important not to cage and cripple yourself with exaggerated notions.
Replace your I can’t attitude with one of you figuring out how to best approach a situation. If something isn’t going as planned, reassess what you are doing without personalizing it. This isn’t about who you are as a person. It’s about figuring out what you need to do to reach your goal.
If you need help with something, feel ok asking somebody. If you are in a situation where you need to practice or study consistently to reach your desired goal, then so be it. Commit wholeheartedly. If part of what you need to do is something that you can delegate to somebody who is really good at it, then do it. You don’t need to do everything. It’s actually smarter not to. This way you can focus your energies on what you really need and want to do.
Lastly, start giving yourself more credit for the things that you’ve accomplished. Learn to celebrate all your victories no matter how big or small. Doing this is key to creating a positive self-perception. It’ll help your mind understand that the same way you’ve succeeded before, you’re capable of doing it again.
