Total Self-Acceptance: Be Proud of Who You Are

Total Self-Acceptance: Be Proud of Who You Are.  Hey guys, it’s Sasha and today is the first day of the Day of the Dead celebrations that are going on in Mexico.

I don’t think I’ve ever shared this with you guys before but I am half Mexican half Puerto Rican and I grew up with a Puerto Rican grandmother who hated the fact that my sister and I were half Mexican. My grandmother would always make these really mean nasty and critical comments about us being half Mexican and it was very tough growing up with her, she really hated the fact that we had much more of a Mexican accent when we spoke in Spanish than a Puerto Rican one, so growing up you know I grew up being feeling very insecure, feeling self-conscious, not feeling good enough. That’s one of the reasons why my message to you often is that of loving yourself and accepting yourself, because the majority of my life I didn’t and the majority of my life I always felt insecure and off because of it, so my message to you today in particular is, to be who you want to be and really embrace it and love it, it makes no difference what your ethnic background is, religion, sexual orientation, all of that stuff is in the grand scheme of things, it doesn’t matter.

What does matter is that you be a good person and just be a happy person who’s living the life they want to live, because that’s what it’s all about and so, for me it took me way too many years of me feeling bad about myself, I was at last able to learn that for myself so I hope that by imparting all of the messages that I’m giving you that it really helps you to build your self-confidence and your self-esteem, where you feel good about being who you are and that you truly accept yourself.

Well I don’t know if you can hear in the background but my family has arrived, so I am off to the festivities that are happening tonight. We’re going to Coyoacan and then the next day we’re going to El Zocalo, which is Mexico’s historic center, it’s a place where they unearthed a pyramid and has some of the oldest buildings in the in the city so I’m gonna be here for the next days. I’m really looking forward to it and the next few videos that you’ll be seeing will definitely be from here Mexico City.

All right guys I hope you’re having a great day and I look forward to chatting with you again soon.
