The funny statement of “Don’t fall in love stupidly” (No se enamoren a lo pendejo) was actually one of my Puerto Rican grandmother’s most memorable pieces of #advice.
My grandmother was referring to the fact that often times, people overlook the damage that their significant others are doing to them, be it (emotionally/verbal abuse or controlling.)
Even in love, you must be smart. There are some things that you can’t let a person get way with.
In my experience, the moment a person gets used to treating you badly. that’s going to continue. They realize that they are in control and they aren’t about to give that up.
It’s only people who really want to change that really change. And if that’s not the case, make sure that you choose to do what’s right for you.
