Never Give Up

To succeed at a goal, that you deep in your heart want to achieve, you must never give up. It can’t even be an option. You have to be so committed in your vision that nothing and nobody can deter you. Here are some examples of stubborn persistence and determination in the face of negativity and adversity.

A single mother, J.K. Rowling struggled to make ends meet while suffering from depression. Even so, she continued writing. 12 rejections later, Harry Potter was accepted and published. Her net worth is now estimated at 1 billion.

Walt Disney was fired from the Kansas City Star in 1919 because, his editor said, he “lacked imagination and had no good ideas.” He failed at his first animation company and at one point survived on eating dog food. Even when he did start becoming successful, the critics criticized his cartoon characters and some even anticipated his theme park Disneyland to fail. Walt Disney ignored the critics. His theme parks, cartoons and movies have now brought smiles to the faces of multiple generations around the world and his company is now an empire.

Steven Spielberg was rejected from the USC’s Film school three times before moving on to make movies on his own and forever change the art form. And ironically, USC ended up awarding him an honorary degree in 1994.

When Benjamin Franklin had trouble seeing, he didn’t accept his fate. He invented bifocals. When he wanted to have copies of his work, he invented the rolling press. When he wanted more daylight, he invented daylight savings time. It can be argued that Franklin’s greatest invention of all was The United States of America. Of course Franklin did not create America alone, but he pursued it and saw it through to completion.

All of these people overcame the odds, simply by refusing to give up on their dream. Never give up on your dreams, or believe the negativity of others, you would only rob the world of what you have to offer.

All of the people that I’ve mentioned are no different than you. Believe that you have what it takes. Be consistent, patient and never give up. You have every reason to believe that you too can succeed. Not just succeed, but succeed at a high level.

Often than not, success doesn’t come easily so if you are going through a tough time and are debating giving up on a dream. Don’t do it. Gather all the courage that you can and keep doing what you need to do. The greatest achievers in human history all struggled with great obstacles. You’re not alone. It’s up to you as to how history will tell your story.
